The Original has the following fatal problems;- It doesn't turn properly. It just topples over at the slightest angle. - It goes into wobbles at very low speeds.- The wheels don't return to a neutral position on their own.- The springs squeak all the time.- The rubber grip is too small and too soft. A proper handlebar might help a bit.- It's too heavy for use as a casual commuting vehicle. The basic 2-wheel scooter design cannot be improved on, so adding an extra wheel just introduces extra weight and engineering complexity, with its associated cost and scope for trouble. On a 2-wheeler your own balance provides the stability, and most people are very proficient at it. With this 3-wheel setup, you have to rely on the machine itself, and it cannot compare. Contrary to other reviews, most other 2-wheel scooters are lighter, more capable on all terrain, and of course you can carry stuff if you feel inclined. You can find videos online of people wobbling around and falling off. Check them out before you think about buying this.[...]
I have owned these for about 10 years. First one wore out after 8 years of constant use and *no* maintenance. It was great getting to school as a kid. Now I get around a college campus with it and it's perfect! You can slow down to walking speed, speed up to a good sprint speed, and you don't actually need your hands to turn it. The stability is also wonderful over poor sidewalks. Unlike a skateboard or scooter, you can carry groceries, backpacks, even desktop computers on it! I've seen the board get bent to the ground, and my newer one was run over/dragged by a car but shows almost no damage at all. Best of all, it fits under desks and bus seats and is easy to carry around inside.
