This really is an outstanding radio for FRS and GMRS use in the mountains and in blocking terrain. Great power and the battery life is exceptional. I didn't buy it for Marine but I can use it on the water also. Marketing missed the boat in just listing it under a marine radio.
There is a bit of speaker distortion at high volume as is all cheaper radios do but this is minor. Just turn the volume down a bit.
My kenwood professional radio does not distort but then again it was over 200.00.
