Comments about Ocean Kayak Ocean Kayak Scrambler:

Great all-around kayak from beginners to seasoned ocean kayakers. Great also for those who want a kayak for their boat/yacht to paddle around the islands. Great for fishing as well!

These boats are EXTREMELY stable! I tried to purposely get one to tip by leaning over, digging in my paddle and pulling up as hard as I could and these are SO stable that there is no way I could get it to go over!

The material Ocean Kayaks uses for their boats is practically indestructable! They can put up with a LOT of abuse and still last for years and years!

I know people that have surfed these onto the beach, although I don't think I'd do it.

A great kayak for the price, and one that will last for years and years, especially if taken care of! One you'll probably pass onto your kids or grandkids when you retire from the sport.

These also have a good resale value as well, so if you buy one and find out kayaking is not your sport, you'll be able to sell it for at least 1/2 of what you bought it for AND have years of memories to boot!

I suggest getting an offset paddle (avoids fatigue), the seat with the pouch in the back for carrying lunches, drinks, etc. If ocean kayaking, a paddle keeper is a nice accessory. I've never needed one, although if landing on the beach, it could prove a valuable piece of safety gear!

These are also about as easy to get on (If you decide to swim off on one) as getting into a pool. They are a bit hard to get off, which is a good safety feature!

In our area, S. California, the rental places, such as sailing clubs, yacht clubs, and small boat rental places, have used these for years.

I would STRONGLY recommend you do NOT get a cheap inflatable to start with! Those are a great way to turn the kids & inexperienced kayakers off from kayaking, as those do not track well, and are simply more for playing in a lake or VERY slow-moving stream, are not as stable, which could be a safety issue, and so on.

If you want a good, stable, well-tracking boat, these are awesome and will give you YEARS of great service!

You can get 1 tank and dive gear on one of these, although I'd look into the Prowler or Malibu Two series if you are planning to do more than one dive during the day - especially if you are spear fishing! For U/W photographers doing one dive in the day, these are wonderful kayaks!

If you have a wagon or similar vehicle, I'd strongly recommend the roller-type racks, as you can get your boat up on your car with ease. The kayak dollies are also wonderful if you have any distance to travel to the water from your vehicle!

These are fun to paddle, are quiet, so great for fishing (and there are accessories for this available as well), and there are even "night kits" with USCG approved light systems, so you can watch "Harbor Lights" from the edges of the harbor or paddle out to the staging area outside the harbor OR you can even join in the parade (Be sure to register first!)Then you can even decorate them for the parade! (use battery powered, marine approved lights for Channuka or Christmas!)

Bottom line is these are a LOT of fun & I'd recommend buying an extra for when your friend from out of town comes to visit!

For touring, those who fish for bigger fish, for diving, etc. I'd suggest one of the larger "Ocean Kayak" kayaks, such as the Prowler 13 or 15 OR a tandem that one person can paddle, such as the Malibu Two XL.
